Why you shouldn’t have the data warehouse (physical)

Having a Data warehouse looked like a great idea for the enterprise as it can collect all required data and produce different views based on the needs. However, I would explain why you should not have the data warehouse.

  1. High initial setup costs: The initial setup of a data warehouse can be expensive, as it often requires purchasing hardware, software, and licensing fees. As it will store huge sizes of data, you will have an upfront cost to purchase enough storage, CPU, and RAM from the beginning. For example, a small company may have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to set up a data warehouse, which can be a significant barrier for businesses with limited resources.
  2. Complexity: Data warehouses can be complex, requiring specialized knowledge to design, implement, and maintain. Of course, ETL, Data warehouse will require specific talents to utilise them, there will be many different cases to retrieve the data source from all different channels and in the end you will also have many customised programs to cover uncovered by the native tools. This can be a challenge for organizations without dedicated data management teams. For instance, a non-profit organization might struggle to find and train staff to manage its data warehouse, leading to inefficiencies and errors.
