Why don’t you let your developer focus on feature development?

As new and modern pipelines emerge and automation/AI tools are introduced, ironically, this automation process tends to increase the engineers’ workload, diverting their attention from feature development to managing additional tasks.

From the software delivery point of view, if the pipeline is complete and automated, theoretically, the duties of the development team are… “Code and Commit”. The rest of the work will be managed by the DevOps team who will maintain the pipeline for the entire engineering team.

In the infrastructure, we have the infrastructure to load the application resources. By automating the infrastructure provisioning, you may also unload your job and focus on the feature development.

Many companies now try to push the responsibilities of what is mentioned above to the feature development team as it is ‘platformed and automated’. To do this, we should ask the team before pushing everything to them.

  1. Are you professional in managing the CICD pipeline and infrastructure management?
  2. Managing the pipeline and infrastructure is your main focus in the team.
