Surveillance capitalism hinges on the appropriation and commercialisation of personal data for profit-making. I’ve condoned the problem for a long time by worshipping IT modern technologies and customised services whenever they have customised & personalised AD on Facebook or youtube.

In this system, large technology companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon collect massive amounts of user data through their platforms and services. This data is then used to create detailed profiles of users, which are sold to advertisers and other third parties for targeted marketing, personalized services, and other purposes.

Here are key aspects of Surveillance Capitalism.

  1. Data Collection: Technology companies utilize various methods to collect vast amounts of data, including search queries, social media activity, location data, and browsing history. This data is often collected without explicit consent from users, leading to concerns about privacy and data ownership.
  2. Data Analysis: Advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques are applied to the collected data to extract valuable insights and create detailed profiles of users, including their behaviours, preferences, and interests. This allows companies to predict future behaviour and anticipate user needs.
