How/why the centralized cloud platform team is working

A centralized cloud platform team typically focuses on creating and managing a unified cloud infrastructure and platform as a service, providing the one-stop service where the platform-infrastructure services are offered.

Ironically, the more automated tools and cloud-based platforms come out, the more responsibilities to the application development team. Historically, all infrastructure components are managed by the infrastructure team and the application team acts as the ‘user’.

But now with the cloud/automation/CICD tool, the current application development team is required to do a lot more than before. Of course, this great tool and service make the company run much more efficiently from TCO's point of view.

I’m not against the fact that automation, collaboration, monitoring, and security have increased dramatically after all modern technologies.

But I still would like to challenge some points.

  • Shouldn’t the application manager focus on the application & feature development?
  • Are they professional at managing the platform, and infrastructure?

You as the company owner definitely like to have a few people to manage all different spectrums in IT, but the enterprise application is not a single car to…
